Apparently I have to actually create the area: NODEDIF and specify the path where the area is physically located.
About : Fdn, haven't figure out yet..

Marisa et all, any suggestions ? Maybe you are using some other alternative to TICKIT ?

Any guidelines at all?

I have to confess it's taking me ages to put everything together.

Hi,

I am currently starting to use TICKIT and I just processed one tick file but I am getting the following:

May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Running timed event: TICKIT
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Parsing ../fido/inbound//47586789.tic
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Unhandled keyword 'fdn'
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Internal code 'fidomisc' invalid!
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Parsing ../fido/inbound//47586790.tic
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Unhandled keyword 'fdn'
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Internal code 'fidomisc' invalid!
May 4 13:29:26 34819 synchronet: evnt Timed event: TICKIT returned 0

The TIC file content is as follows:

Area NODEDIFZ
Origin 2:292/854
From 2:250/1
File NODEDIFF.Z24
Lfile nodediff.z24
Size 1477
Desc Fidonet NODEDIFF for this week (ZIP)
Crc E09C98DB
Areadesc Current Fidonet nodediff in ZIP format
Fdn Nodediffs, Nodelists etc

Path 2:250/1@fidonet 1525385995 Thu May 3 23:19:55 2018 GMT

The instructions for TICKIT are a bit minimalistic, so not sure what to do about that.

Otherwise, if any other TIC processor is better for synchronet, can you please advise?

Many thanks!

I finally decided to re-install as that was the quickest as I haven't officially opened yet.
Eventually I will look deeper into some parts of the software...

Hi

I was having a look at the status of Fidonet nowadays and apparently Europe (Zone 2) does not longer exist!! So there are not known nodes in Europe by the look of it.
I am in the UK, so unless I join CA/US not sure what can be done..
It's just sad to see how these things slowly go away being absorbed by the internet.

Thanks

Hi

I noticed the initial synchronet banner is using the following file: text/lbshell_bg.bin

I have tried to replace it, but strangely the OLD banner still displays.

has Anyone done this before? As I guess I am missing something I haven't figure out quite yet..

Many thnaks

Hi,
I got installed synchronetbbs V3 and I realised the WIKI talks mostly about V2!!
vert.synchro.net/docs/sysop_commands.html

Probably I have made a number of things wrong which will force me to re-install the BBS as I am not sure about the Sysop anymore.
* is there anyway of re-creating the Sysop account?
* Apparently Sysop is a forbidden name, so I guess a different name rather than sysop would be good. Also the instructions (wiki) mention the Sysop would log locally? is that right?

Apologies as I am trying to figure out all this on the go.

Many thanks!

Ran Man created a new topic ' Customize Ports' in the forum. 2 years ago

Hi,

I am looking into how can I customize the ports for the Webserver/FTP servers.

I Would like to have some different ports for both services as I already have them in use for some other purposes
So far I haven't found much documentation and before start hacking files all over the place I thought it would be better to ask all of you about it?

Many thanks!
